Baca Architects secures book deal with the RIBA

The practice’s pioneering approach to living with water and flood risk is to be captured in a new book to be published and distributed by RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) publishing.

Co-authored by the practice’s directors Robert Barker and Richard Coutts the book explores the relationship between water and architecture, examining how cities and civilisations have developed around water and sought to harness and control it. It will seek to explain how global warming will influence the natural water cycle and how this will impact upon cities around the world. It will show how to ‘design for water’, using examples of work from around the world, can provide the opportunity to address our water past and our water future; and how design with water can create a beautiful, sustainable, intelligent and pleasurable, built environment on the land, in the water and with the water.
